Notes | Fabric I ordered fabric with 70% wool and because I wanted a really warm coat, I put there layer of flannel under it. And it turned out to be my warmest peace of clothes at all The lining is viscose. In the instructions was not written how much fabric to use. I needed almost 3 m of the main fabric and 2 m of lining. Bodice The bodice fits very nice, no pattern alterations were needed. I felt it is too short, so I added a 5.5 cm wide belt. Sleeves The sleeves were very very narrow. I recommend to order thick arms pattern adjustment even if you do not have thick arms. I had to make them wider by myself and it was really hard, because I did not know how to do it properly to fit the armhole. The length of the sleeves fits. Skirt I omitted the pleates in the front - they made the skirt too wide. The pleate in the back keeps opening more than I would like to, but I will probably get used to it. Pockets This was my first time I sew welt pockets! It is not that difficult as I was afraid. The pocket bags could be smaller. On both of them is written they should be cut from lining fabric, but I cut the bigger one from the main fabric. You must figure out by yourself which pocket bag is for the left or right pocket. And of course I did it the wrong way. I found out when I had the whole coat finished and took it out for the first time. Oh crap! But since it is not visible from outside, I will leave it that way. But it is weird when I put my hands into a pocket. Lining There are no pattern pieces for the lining. You must construct them from the pieces for the main fabric (just lay on the main pieces the facing pieces and cut it off) In the end it is quicker than to print and glue more pattern pages from the pdf. Conclusion Even there were some difficulties, I would recommend the pattern. Especially, if you do not have table measurements. I have a really warm coat I will wear for years. |
