Notes | I made this dress for the birthday party of my boyfriend's grandmother. She worked as a seamstress when she was young and I thought she might like this vintage style. This was the first time ever that I have sewn in a zipper. Apart from this, the dress was quite easy. And with the help of a few YouTube tutorials, the zipper turned out quite ok. I didn't manage to sew it in invisible, though, but if you don't tell anyone, it looks like a nice visible zipper:D I had to add two extra darts at the front because I did not take my measurements right and it hang quite loose at the waist (rather like my granny's house dress then Marilyn Monroe walking the beach promenade, which was what I had in mind...). I also used white bias tape instead of the facings, as I thought it added a nice contrast to the red. My boyfriend's grandmother of course loved the dress - or, being a nice and lovely old lady, she at least didn't criticize my little beginner's mistakes. |
