Notes | I really liked the style of the blouse but found it very frustrating to sew as I had several problems with it. I sewed the blouse in a mustard polyester first and had three main problems 1) The fit is huge, length and width, so I had to make it a lot smaller 2) I coudn't work out how to sew the armholes as this step is after the side seams and neckline and ended up topstitching them together which I was unhappy with. 2) The rear flounce doesn't drape like the photo and looks disconnected from the front flounce I was determined to conquer this pattern. When I sewed the blouse in a cream polyester, I made the following changes 1) I left the side seams till almost last, so that I could use the burrito method to sew the armholes which I was much happier with. 2) I flipped orientation of the rear flounces so that the top of the rear flounce isn't connected to the shoulder seam. The rear flounce draped much better. 3) I am still thinking of adding rear darts for some shaping as the top has a very boxy shape. I still really like the 'epic' front flounces and I think I might sew it again in a nicer fabric to show off the style of the blouse. |
