This dress was quite easy to make. I did have to make a few alterations despite having ordered to my custom measurements. I put an invisible zipper in, but the next time I will only use a 7" zipper as I'm not sure the garment even needs a zipper. I added cording to the front left seam and all the way around the bottom above the flounce, and really like how that seemed to give an illusion of dimension. I added the same cording to the lower edge of the sleeves. The lace I used on the bottom flounce already had a subtle accordion fold in it, but I added about 6 additional inches to the flounce in 1" intervals at 6 separate locations. I felt the flounce needed a little more fullness. The lace overlay on the collar is the same lace as I used on the flounce. I was wearing a black slip that was showing through the lace flounce. I was pleased with how the dress turned out, and might like to make it, again, with a heavier-weight fabric and 3/4 sleeves for a Fall/Winter application. |
