Notas Danielle wanted a wrap dress and liked this blouse pattern so I extended it adding a circle skirt.

I noticed the stand up collar after I ordered it an didn’t think she’d like that so I omitted that and made some bias tape from the primary fabric for a facing.

She chose a cute floral rayon georgette that was semi sheer so I added lining. I would have chosen a different lining. This one was polyester, and thee color was not perfect. You can’t tell...you know because its lining. I hated the wiggliness of the lining.

I decided to spring for a walking foot because of the use of a somewhat slippery fabric and a very slippery lining. I should have invested it that years ago... highly recommend!

I used French seams, and sewed the lining and fabric together as one unit failing to account for how the hem would work out since I wanted the hemlines to be separate. I made it work, but not quite as elegantly as I had hoped. I really shoot for the inside as tidy as the outside the way Grandma would have expected. I executed that in every way except there are some rough awkward spots with respect to the lining hem where I had to separate the lining for the main fabric that was seamed together.

I used rolled hems for the sleeve and the hemline of the flounce. I zigzagged the lining then cinged the edge with a flame for the lining. A technique that I became fond of making Danielle’s prom dress with miles and layers of chiffon.

I left the sleeves and the belt unlined.

I’ll be seeing Danielle on Friday for final fitting to determine the hemline. We are considering adding a ruffled edge to the hemline.

Wish me luck !

5/1/2019 Fitting completed. We did decide to add a ruffled edge or flounce if you will to the hem line. I am so glad we did.

Final photos will be forthcoming once the dress and its owner meet. In the meantime I am posting the model less finished product.
