Notes | This is a really simple style, straightforward to construct and easy to adjust at the neckline. The wide neckline means that the suggested back zipper is not needed. The pocket design is excellent, good sized pockets are inserted into the long front darts at an angle that makes them very comfortable to use. I interfaced the pocket attachment area. I felt that the length of this was a bit "in between" - too short to be a dress, but a little too long to be a top. I decided to make a deep hem, which shortened the tunic to a top and added a bit of weight to help the drape of the fabric. The fabric is a Liberty Tana Lawn in a teal colour with a print of black and white budgies wearing mustard yellow neckties. I love this fabric! Unfortunately the tunic was rather creased (from a lot of wearing) when the pictures were taken. Update - I have made another one of these, this time added interfacing to the front pleat and edge-stitched the open section of pleat down to the hem. This makes the top hang a lot better (and will hopefully make it easier to iron the pleat section in the future). |
