| Notes | Testing out this new pattern. The are a few problems with it. It's too short. The picture shows a skirt that comes to just below the knees but cutting it exactly as the pattern came to me it would be very much above the knees once the hem has been put up. This makes the skirt hang strangely and is out of proportion. The is also some strange bunching around the hips. This may simply be due to the shortness, or the side seams are curved in the wrong place for my hips. Apart from the quibbles, the skirt came together well. As you can see I tried out some baby piping on the yoke. Pretty happy with how that turned out. As it happens I could not buy that fabric anymore so after much thought I bought some black in a similar weight cotton and put a band at the bottom. I think that looks pretty good especially with a black top. I should perhaps mention that the band is an extension of the pattern. So in effect I lengthened the skirt pattern by 10cm (4 inches). |
