Notes | Made for my daughters best friend. A rather ambitious project for a gift. Satin charmeuse lined with stretch satin (should have used a lighert fabric for lining). I applied interfacing to the back lining approximately where a back facing would go. I under-stitched all the seams, which was tricky but well worth doing. I had to piece the ties to the lining as I didn't have enough cloth to self line. The romper is full lined, you need to allow for this. The romper front is larger then the shorts front. I had to gather it to fit. The instructions for the shorts did not work for me. I ended up with a pair of infinity bloomers! In retrospect, sew the main and then sew the outer and inner leg of the lining. The sew the legs together at the hem, under stitch and pull through. Then pin the crotch seam and sew it (this is fiddly but works) I sewed the top and shorts together and then created a casing to run three channels of elastic through. My fabric refused to sew a nice, narrow hem on the flounce so I used a tiny zigzag. It was a solid 10 hour sew but my daughter is thrilled so I am happy. |
