Notes It took me a while to make this coat but that was mainly because of my choice of fabric - I had to deal with a LOT of pattern matching. If it weren't for this plaid fabric I would finish it much sooner, but oh well. I really like the end result and that's all that matters!

Lining was also very time consuming - I wanted the coat to be really warm so I quilted polar fleece and lining fabric together to achieve this. I really love how it turned out but it took me forever!

I made a few fit adjustements and style modifications to the pattern and here they are:
- 2cm narrow shoulder adjustement
- shorten the bodice by 1cm
- shorten the skirt by 4cm and straighten and slim down the side seams
- change the shape of the collar
- add a piped button tab at the back
- add pockets

Would you believe that this pattern does not include pockets?! That's crazy considering it's a winter coat! I added welt pockets that are hidden inside the front pleats, it was an easy thing to do.
All in all I'm really happy with my coat and very proud of all the work that went into it!

This is a lovely coat, your added details make this very special - and the pockets make it practical (the Lekala description "flap pockets" should say "pocket flaps" if there are no actual pockets!!!)
Your fabric and lining are beautiful, a good job with the plaid matching. The buttons remind me of the 1960's, when my Mum put some like this on a cardigan she had knitted for me. I loved them, used to enjoy the feel of them :)
I am sure you will feel good in this coat - enjoy wearing it!

What a beautiful coat. Your attention to detail really makes it special. And yes, who on earth wants a winter coat with no pockets?!
