Note | I like the panels on this skirt. Panels work well for me, but there are many small panels to keep track of here. Once they start getting attached to one another, it becomes quite a simple construction. I always add linings to my skirts, so that complicated the process somewhat, although not unduly. This is a faced skirt, and the only challenge was lining the pleat panel in the back. I happen to have another pattern with such a panel (Style Arc Odette) and used the lining pattern for that as a model. I chose to lap the seams (press and topstitch in opposing directions), which was a mistake in judgment, as they do not line up over the side seams of the skirt. Or rather, the seams do, but not the topstitching lines. This was particularly egregious over the side zip, which is not displayed! The fabric is an RPL suiting, purchased from Sawyer Brook in 2014. The skirt took just over a yard, because of all the little pieces, some on almost bias grain. The poly content made topstitching a must, even with 1cm seam allowances. The seams would not lie flat without it. The lining is a bemberg in hot pink! |
