Optimized for maximum time usage.

1 cm seam allowance. 1.5cm Hem Turn up.

1. PREPARATION
Press and mark pieces. Make sure that markings on trim pieces will be visible once edges are sewn.
Make sure inset has top clearly marked on it
Apply interfacing to front and back facings.

2. SEW
Make darts front and back
Staystitch necklines and armholes 1/4” from edge.
Stitch Center back seam.

3. PRESS
Front Bust darts up
front side darts center
Back side darts center

4. SERGE
CB seam (to finish)
Inset to back waist
Inset to front waist
Bottom edge of front trim (to finish)
Bottom edge of back trim (to finish)
Serge top edge of front trim to bottom of front skirt matching pleat markings
Serge to edge of back trim to bottom of back skirt matching pleat markings
Lower edge of front facing (to finish)
Lower edge of back facing (to finish)

5. PRESS
Press all pieces just serged.
CB – press seam to the left.
Insets – press seams towards insets
Trims- press seams towards skirt
Press pleats into skirts front and back as per illustration in lekala instructions

6. SEW
(If desired) Inset seams to insets (this will show as a topstitch)
Trimming seam to skirt front
Trimming seam to skirt back
Shoulder seams of dress
Shoulder seams of facings
Optional: Edgestitch 1/8” from edge of pleats for added effect

7. Still sewing, APPLY FACINGS INVISIBLY (this why you haven't added the skirt bottoms to the garment yet)
Lay garment flat RS up with shoulder seams visible.
Lay facing RS down on garment and match shoulder seams.
Sew around necklines at 3/8” SA. Clip curve, grade and understitch if wanted.
Turn right side out and press. Topstitch if desired.
Lay garment horizontally on the bench, RS armhole facing facing up. Armhole should be near your waist.
Pick up nearest armhole facing. You will roll the garment in between this facing and the garment armhole edge. Make sure none of the body of the garment is caught between the armhole facing and the armhole body pieces. The right sides of the facing and the body should be together. Your garment will look like a sausage.
Sew the armhole 3/8” from the edge. Pull the garment out from between the facing and the garment.
Repeat with the other side.
Press both armholes. Topsttich if desired.

8. SERGE
Top front to inset on bottom skirt
Top back to inset on bottom skirt

9. PRESS
Press skirt front and back.

10. SEW
Topstitch inset seams to inset if desired.
SERGE left hand sides and right hand sides of dress to Finish edges.
Insert Zipper of your choice in left side . Invisible zipper is recommended and starts under the arm. Make sure waist inset matches when zipper inserted.
Finish left hand side seam.
Sew Right hand side seam

11. PRESS
Press side seams open.
Check pleats are in position.
Turn up hem 1.5cm.

12. SEW
Hem dress
Catch facings to side seams
Catch Left hand side facing to zipper tape.
