Notes I inverted the pleats, and lowered and widened the neckline by 1-1.5cm.

I left off the cap sleeves to make it sleeveless.

The fit is perfect, but I'm still not sold on the pleats.

The dress is super comfortable though, so it's s good work staple and will get a lot of wear.

Hi Helen, I'd rely on the pattern piece layout picture rather than the line drawing. The line drawing shoes tucks going only halfway across the body but the pattern piece has them go the entire way across the body, and that's what I followed. With the type of fabric I used, I found the tucks didn't stay folded and opened up so it looked a little baggy, which was a shame.

Rhea, I was thinking about this pattern and took a closer look at your dress and the pattern pic....the pic shows tucks on one side of the top front, and then on the other side of the skirt front. Your dress shows tucks on both sides of the top and the skirt. Is the pattern pic wrong, or did you add tucks?

Thank you for your insight...I'm still planning so I might end up with a different pattern altogether...

    Hi Helen,
I think adding sleeves is a great idea, but I'm not sure how well the appliques will go on the waist area because of the pleats. I found the pleats are actually quite small and didn't hold their shape very well in this wool suiting. I think applique on the waist would either get lost in the pleats or distort the pleats and they wouldn't sit properly...
Please share the project so we can all see what you made!
    All the best,
    Rhea

I'm thinking of making this dress in a silk dupion fabric, and adding a 3/4 length illusion sleeve with appliques. I also wanted to add appliques around the waist area but probably the pleats would be a problem?
