Notes | YEAH, I finished my coat yesterday (took me about 100 hours). I love the fact, that it has a functional, super warm aluminium lining, so I'll definitely wear it often. The typical viscose lining where the wind blows through is what kept me from buying or using a traditional coat so far :) I'm very happy with the fit of this pattern. It will also fit in pregnancy or in case you'd gain a bit of weight, but still looks slim and fitted. But it cost me a lot of nerves that sometimes instructions are kind of scarce it doesn't come with a separate pattern for the lining. Also, the belt is too short. It barely wrapped once. I Ended up splitting and adding a second part, so get to 2m length. I didn't use shoulder pads (not that much space in the armhole and I don't like the look), and used sew on pressure buttons, which are invisible from the outside. Re lining: The desciption basicially saying copy paste the external fabric as lining except for front facings is wrong. You need to draft an extra pattern piece for the side-front (-facing + seam allowance) and also alter the neckline so that it's deeper. Helpful (German speaking) Youtube Videos in the sewing process were: - Side pockets (kind of easy if you know how): https://youtu.be/Oed9P17Mobk?si=noY1ZGMutplmMudK - How to sew collar: https://youtu.be/J2_U140jU7w?si=TugcyQxmclUPSstM - How to alter main pattern pieces to get lining: https://youtu.be/XA32-64Ep7Q?si=6jxcDPn_0jJYGDhk - How to sew lining and coat together: https://youtu.be/Oz-7qS3RE70?si=yi_uzT93rnj3-HI_ In the end, the only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the hem which still doesn't lie flat 100% but you won't notice unless you know. I just left it as is :-) |
