Notes | Let me start by saying how much I love the end result of this blouse!!! Now I’m going to use the rest of the review to explain how deeply frustrated I was by this pattern! I purchased this pattern some time ago. It looked simple enough. I’d look at the pattern pieces and I couldn’t figure it out. I don’t usually read pattern instructions, or I skim if I’m confident making a pattern. If I have questions, I study the instructions throughly. Every time I read the instructions, it made less and less sense. I would get intimidated, and choose another project over this one. Of all the Lekala patterns I’ve made, this was the most confusing! Generally I find Lekala patterns straightforward and easy to understand and construct. The instructions aren’t clear with how to assemble the neckline. There’s no markings on the pattern pieces that might make it easier to figure out. I cut this pattern out on some leftover fabric at 50% for my half scale dress form, and I tried all of the possible ways the neckline could come together to resemble the line drawings. I did this twice with the half scale form before I was confident enough to cut into my silk. I’m not even sure I did construct this blouse the correct way, but I felt it was the closest to the drawing. To get the pleats right I hand sewed each one before going to the machine. I removed the center front and center back seams from the pattern because I thought the fabric would flow better. |
