Notes | Looks more a pinafore than a dress. Made to measure, but in this case far off! The back’s measurements were perfect, the front was in total 10cm to wide. A problem as it is difficult to change it. So I came up with a fold left and right of the front skirt. That was solved. The bodice is more difficult to change, so I am gonna narrow the side-seam near the waist, but even then I am not out of the wood yet, as the tucks are far too low. Also the opening at the front is not correct (must uphold the shoulders, or change the part where the front is sewn. (So the pix are at the stage of the bodice still needs alterations). As the fabric were old draperies which I received free of charge (a lot op draperies!) I made an extended Lekala serie of it, a vintage ‘Brigitte Bardot’ style jacket is halfway of finishing). Up until now I had always used the front of the fabric. To have some different outlook for this dress (pinafore) I used both sides of the fabric (part of the front, the waistband + the off-set welt, the rest is mede of the uni colored backside). I skipped the pockets itself as I really do not like pockets. I made use of the buttons I use for this series of fabric (no use of buttons at the original model). There are no facings at the armpits, so I added those as well. Would I make this dress again in a different type of fabric? Surely, first get the flaws out of my ‘made to measure’ pattern. This is the one which did not fit, other Lekala patterns do. |
